Lowveld High excel in all sport arenas

Tennis players of Lowveld High School and Curro College faced off on the courts on Friday.

Out of the six games that were played, LHS lost one and beat Curro 45-10.

They secured two first places, a second, two third and a fifth place.

• Lowveld High’s cross-country athletes excelled at Numbi Primary School in Hazyview in the 10th league of the 2014 Cross Country.
First – Thembeka Ngwenya, gold medal, junior woman
First – Nkosi Sibanda, gold medal, boys 17
Third – Gift Shongwe, bronze medal, junior men
Third – Tambananie Ligunya, bronze medal, boys 17
Second – Siyabonga sithole, silver medal, boys 15
Fifth – Bruce Mukucha, boys 14.

• Lowveld High’s sevens team participated in the MJM Sevens day in Phalaborwa this past weekend. They did extremely well as they won the cup final against Frans du Toit 38-19.

Semi-finals – LHS 26 Hoërskool Lydenburg 19.

The school’s soccer team won the semi-final in the Mpumalanga School Soccer league against Delpark of the Nkangala Region 4-0. Unfortunately they lost in the final against Coromandell of the Bholabela Region 0-4. They managed to obtain second place and received prize money of R10 000 and a new soccer kit from McDonalds.
