Primary celebrates provincial cricket players

The school boasts with no fewer than 13 players selected for provincial teams this year.

Nelspruit Primary is very proud of the 13 cricket players who have been selected for provincial teams.

The Puma cricket boys u/13 , u/11 and u/10 were recently announced and Primary boasts players included across the board.

The grade six learner, Khaya Fakude, who has been included in the u/13 A team, was also recently awarded a bursary to attend King Edward VII School (KES) in Johannesburg when he goes to high school in 2017.

His coach, Albert van Putten, notes that Khaya has scored a total of 1 618 runs since 2011, at an average of 52 runs per innings.

He has also taken 92/753 in 300 overs, with an average of a meagre 2,5 runs per over scored against him.

He has also captained the Puma team since he was 10 years old.

Current Protea players who attended KES include Quentin de Kock, Graeme Smith, Neil McKenzie and Dane Villas.

“We wish Khaya all the best as he will join KES in 2017,” Van Putten said.

For the first time in four years the u/13 team unfortunately lost the Mpumalanga Super Schools final in Secunda last week.

They played against Laerskool Goedehoop where they lost with five wickets.
