Mini-hockey festival gives young players a chance to shine

Young hockey players from the region had the opportunity to showcase and develop their skills at Riverview Prep's annual mini-hockey festival on Saturday morning.

Teams from Laerskool Bergland, Barberton, Malelane, Nelspruit, St Peter’s School and Komatipoort Akademie competed in a round robin tournament at Riverview Prep School on Saturday.

The players, aged between seven and nine, were very eager to learn more about the sport, have fun and do their school and parents proud.

Where the little ones were unsure of the rules and regulations, the referees, coaches and teachers lent a helping hand and pointed them in the right direction.

Parents and friends loudly supported the players and enjoyed mouthwatering refreshments at the school’s tuck shop.
