Grade one swimmer sets a new record

Penryn Prep recently held its annual interhouse gala. The youngsters were very excited to experience the newly renovated pool.

All the children did extremely well, especially for not undergoing any pre-season training. For some kids it was the first time back in the pool since the first term.

Houses traded blows as the 70 races went by. The spirit was high and the swimmers more than matched the loud cheers of their fellow pupils and supporters. Osprey won the gala. It seems as if this is going to be a great swimming season.

Meila Banza in grade one broke the record for breaststroke in 27,06 seconds. Anna Phillips was the junior victrix ludorum while Dylan Ormiston and Yves-Andre Lusamba shared the spoils for junior victor ludorum. Yuva Singh and Luke Sproule were awarded the senior victrix and victor ludorum for their scintillating performance.

Finally, Dylan Ormiston scored the most points in a race for 50-metre breaststroke with 457. On the girls’ side Emma Beyers achieved a points high score of 250 in the 50-metre freestyle.
