Athletes turn lemons into lemonade at Hoërskool Bergvlam

A total of six schools participated in the athletics meeting.

There were no sour grapes when hundreds of athletes from around the Lowveld and Onderberg descended on Hoërskool Bergvlam for a great day of athletics on Friday, October 4.

Six schools took part in the 2024 Helen Lemon Athletics Meeting, which forms part of the early athletics season and goes a long way to helping athletes sufficiently prepare for the main season that starts in the new year.

Other than host Hoërskool Bergvlam, the schools that participated were Komatipoort Akademie, Hoërskool Rob Ferreira, Lowveld High School, Hoërskool Nelspruit and Hoërskool Barberton. A few learners from primary schools also took part, but no primary school was officially part of the roster.

The competition was stiff throughout the day, and the schools shared the spoils, each getting their fair share of podium places.
