Danie Rossouw Rugby Week a smash hit

The rugby week was a major success, as players enjoyed some great weather throughout the three days of matches.

Rob Ferreira once again recently hosted the annual Danie Rossouw Rugby Week, bringing roughly 1 000 school rugby players to White River for a week of great rugby action.

The youngsters enjoyed three days of matches during the week, treating the thousands of spectators who came to watch a feast of brilliant schoolboy rugby.

The third and final day was played on April 2, and with it being the second day of strength-to-strength match-ups, it offered up some cracking matches.

It was also the coolest day of the week by far and players even enjoyed some rain in the early afternoon, adding to the jeopardy on the day. No fewer than six games were decided by 10 points or less, with the game between Penryn’s U15s and HTS John Vorster’s U15s the closest as they could, only be separated by one point.

The final day was a tough end to the week for the hosts as their first team and U16s narrowly lost to Randpark High and Wonderboom, but their U14As and U15s enjoyed success. The U16 and U19 squads that will tour to Italy were also finalised and announced on the final day.
