M-Cru launches their latest album

GA MAKOFANE – With the festive season around the corner, local hip-hop group M-Cru seems to be the hot favourites to entertain party people around Tubatse.

The group comprises of brothers Cafrin Magabe (27), Mmusho Magabe (24), alongside their cousin Johny Sekgobela (25) who hails from Maabocha.

“It is a family crew, we realised we have one thing in common and that is music. With our singing talent, we share messages, guide the youth and also entertain. We keep updating and informing the public about vital issues like crime, teenage pregnancy and HIV/Aids,” said lead singer, Magabe.

M-Cru was started back in 2001 when the two siblings (Cafrin and Mmusho) used to do rap bottles at their home and imitated well known artists like HHP, 50 cent and Dr Dre. Among their challenges at the village, the group was forced to face the criticism associated with rap music but they ended up convincing the locals that hip hop was for the youth and good for the community.

“Everyone expected we would sing gospel, but it was not for us, we choose rap music. We are happy that locals are now beginning to understand the music because of us,” they said.

Among their hits songs is “Pain” which relates the life of a university graduate who struggles to make ends meet. “No money can buy love” is another track currently making radio waves, it is a hit at local radio station Tubatse FM. The talented group also record radio jingles for some programmes at the station.

“We still have a long way to go in this challenging industry but what keeps our heads high is that we are getting salutes from people of Ga Makofane and the whole of Tubatse,” they added.

The group launched their latest album The conceptions on October 5 at Uhuru Africa resort, the album has 17 tracks. The launch was attended by rappers such as Necious, Rap sharks, Kytzo, K-MO, The VG, Manix, Slender guy (Tubatse FM) and many more. For bookings and gigs M- Cru can be reached on 079 2483874.
