Academy gives birth to city’s new music band, Xpresso

The sextet is also available for bookings at corporate, social and other events.

The Casterbridge Music Development Academy (CMDA) has produced a number of music groups. One of them is Nelspruit’s own Xpresso band.

The group formed in July last year and slowly gains fame among locals. The band consists of students from the new Nelspruit hub which offers practical music lessons.

According to Lebogang Trevor of the group, Xpresso is aimed at creating confidence among aspirant musicians.

“The motivation behind the band was and is still to help each member in the group to build their confidenc on- and off- stage and create a team spirit in terms of musicianship,” he said.

The sextet is also available for bookings at corporate, social and other events.

“We are available for bookings but we primarily want to take what we do at the academy out there to the public to showcase the talent the kids have in our communities.”

They play various genres such as pop, blues, reggae and soul.

Although the group is made up of six people, Trevor said they were going to add more members as they still needed a lead guitar player and vocalists.

The group hasn’t released an album yet, but hopes to release one in the near future.
