Learners’ loose lips are awarded at St. Peter’s School public speaking evening

The event took place at Kuzuri Restaurant last Thursday evening.

MBOMBELA – There is a saying which goes: “If you can speak, you can influence, and if you can influence you can change lives”. The senior students of St Peter’s School definitely influenced their audience with eloquent speech and interesting topics at their public speaking event last Thursday evening.

The wonderful event boasting truly inspirational speakers was held at Kuzuri Restaurant. The grade fours to grade sevens captivated the crowd with speeches, poetry and even rap on a variety of topics, ranging from women’s empowerment, to the life of a teenager.

Master of ceremonies Shayna Erasmus applauded the children, some of whom spoke in their third language. “This is also the only school that includes rap as part of their programme,” Erasmus said. The adjudicators were equally impressed with the children’s abilities.

Boitu Moele (grade six).

“You all did a really amazing job and in our hearts you are all winners,” judge Elsjé Erasmus said. However, there could only be one winner and Palesa Ndlovu walked away with this title with Phumi Maseko claiming second place.
