Louise Carver’s tips for aspiring artists

The singer gave the following five tips if you want to make it big in the music industry.

Louise Carver is one of the country’s best known singers. With a string of number-one singles as well as two top singles on the US dance charts, it is no wonder why.

The singer will be coming to the Lowveld on October 5. She will be performing at the Barnyard in White River from 18:30.

Tickets start at R85 per person and can be booked at www.louisecarver.com.

She had the following advice for singers and musicians who want to make it big in the industry.

TIP 1:

“Get a tertiary education. Focus your studies on things like marketing and social media. Remember, you are the CEO of your own brand and you need to sell your brand.”

TIP 2:

“Make sure that you understand the business side of the industry. If you don’t you are just a sitting duck and open for any agent or company to take advantage of you.”

TIP 3:

“Arm yourself with a good lawyer and do not sign any contracts without him or her looking over it first. It might sound like an extra expense but it is worth every penny.”

TIP 4:

“Perform live as much as possible. You can not call yourself a musician if you do not know how to do a live performance. At the beginning of your career you might not get a lot of money, but look past that and do it for the experience of being on stage.”

TIP 5:

“Enjoy it. Remember to stay humble but you never know what might be coming around the corner.”
