This why some people do not celebrate Valentine’s Day

Some people celebrate the day because of the pressure they receive from society although some just choose to ignore the day.

Its Valentine’s Day and the question on almost everyone’s mind is: how are you planning to celebrate the day?

Here are seven reasons why people do not celebrate Valentine’s Day according to motivational speaker, Gladys Pule, known as Make Pule :

1. Historically, celebrating Valentine’s Day is like celebrating the death of St Valentine, which is so illogical: Some people believe you should never ever celebrate the death of a person, no matter how good that person was.

2. Some people think it is a religious belief :According to them celebrating it is unethical and unreligious.

3. Celebrating Valentine is a moneymaking strategy for most retail companies : Commercials and advertisements make it sound like if you don’t shower your lover with gifts on February 14, then you are not expressing your love appropriately.

4. You are not supposed to trot out your affection for everyone to see: you must do it in small daily acts of warmth and caring.

5. You do not need one specific day to express you love for your loved ones: Quality in love is that it should be essential for life not something temporary, thus, expression of love can be made 365 days a year.
