Tingwenyama a team of choice in Nsikazi region and beyond the boundaries of Mpumalanga

Formed in 2010 and owned by prominent businessman, Oupa Matsebula, it did not take long before the team registered its name in the history pages by being crowned the Mpumalanga Provincial Safa League champions for two consecutive seasons.

Lowvelder Express continues to take a closer look and profile Nsikazi-based soccer teams. Today the spotlight falls on Mbombela United.

Tingwenyama, as they are fondly known, continue to be the team of choice for many, not only in Nsikazi but throughout the province.

They are currently participating in the country’s second tier, the GladAfrica Championship (National First Division).

Mbombela United and TS Sporting could be back in action soon

Formed in 2010 and owned by prominent businessman, Oupa Matsebula, it did not take long before the team registered its name in the history pages by being crowned the Mpumalanga Provincial Safa League champions for two consecutive seasons.
During the 2012/13 season, the team won the provincial Safa League, then known as Vodacom League, under the guidance of caretaker coach, Lesego Matsomela, and represented the province but failed to
qualify for a NFD spot.

During the 2014/15 season, they were once again crowned the Safa Provincial League Champions for Mpumalanga, now known as the Motsepe League, under the guidance of Mfanimphela “Mphela” Maseko. They became the first team to win the ABC Motsepe League Championship after beating Mthatha Bucks 2-1 in the final.
In their first NFD campaign, Mbombela United secured a Premier League playoff promotion spot under the mentorship of Vusi Phillip Mkatshwa. They failed to qualify for the Premier Soccer League.
Currently 14th with 23 points on the GladAfrica Championship log table, the home team will be looking for a decent finish so they can try again next season.
