Artz Africa needs your support
A small group of local, up-and-coming artists from Artz Africa celebrated Heritage Day by exhibiting their artwork at the Promenade in Mbombela.

These artists, all part of the Nebulae Productions – Cultural Creative Projects, are undergoing visual arts skills training. It is being funded by the National Arts Council. The intention is to develop capacity building and innovation among the youth of South Africa. These artists believe that this training will empower them to use their art to become self-employed entrepreneurs.

The organiser of this event, Pamela Mahlalela, said, “This exhibition is part of our training. It is also an effort to create awareness among the youth that art is an empowering skill and should and can be employed to sustain oneself. You have to start where you are with what you have though. Many artists are, however, struggling because we do not have a centre where artists can workshop and exhibit their art to a wide audience. We are of the opinion that there is not enough support or opportunities for art and artists in this province.”

Despite all these challenges and lack of airtime and Internet connectivity, the group is using social media to market themselves as much as possible. Should you wish to support this initiative or buy their art, contact their facilitator and art teacher, Deanne Kim, on 071-612-4852 or nebulaeproductions23@gmail.com
