Athletics club grows in leaps and bounds
Today, the NAAC has more than 250 members, with one aim: to keep fit.
Local marathon runner Evans Mabowa’s mission to keep everyone fit is bearing fruit.
Just weeks ago, Steelburger/Lydenburg News published an article in which Mabowa introduced Ngwaabe Athletics and Aerobics Club (NAAC).
Today, the NAAC has more than 250 members, with one aim: to keep fit.
On Monday, Mabowa and his team successfully opened another branch at Ga-Malekane Jik.

“We are recruiting members on a daily basis; young and old are joining NAAC.
“Tomorrow we are having a fun run and fun walk at 06:00 at Ga Masha Mini taxi stop.
“The training will also include a two-hour aerobics session. Currently, the NAAC has four branches in Steelpoort and surrounds.”
The founder added, “I wish to take the youth off the streets. We want healthy youths who are fit. Maybe the NAAC will encourage the youth to focus more on sport.”
For the NAAC’s success, Malekane thanked the sponsors and members of the community for coming in their numbers and taking part in the training sessions.
He also gave special thanks to Lavita Entertainment Group, Forman Mahlatsi and Micca Mathaila, and the leadership of the club. The NAAC’s formal launch will be on March 28 between 07:00 and 14:00 at Ga-Malekane Community Hall.
