Graduates receive rock-solid training
Mediro's managing director, John Moropane, thanked Zizwe for giving his company a platform to transfer knowledge and skills to local communities.
BURGERSFORT – Zizwe Opencast, in partnership with one of its service providers, Mediro Training Academy (MTA) ensured more than 10 locals graduated with certificates in rock-breaking surface excavation.
The ceremony was held at Mediro’s offices in Praktiseer last Friday.The training was conducted by MTA.
It involved both theoretical and practical training.
Jacqueline Maimela, HR director of Zizwe, said its aim is to transfer skills to local communities.
Charlene Fourie, of Zizwe’s training department, thanked MTA for the cooperation they have.
“Since it started working as a service provider in training of surface mobile machinery in excavation mining, we have seen improvements in our staff.
“If we give back, one day we will receive. The graduates have to ensure that what they have learned is put into practice. This is a way of developing the community. We have also absorbed the graduates at some of our businesses locally.”

“We mainly focus on providing fit-for-purpose education and training to the mining sector. A good relationship
is fostered with the Mining Qualification Authority to ensure that our focus is in line with the needs of the mining sector.”
One of the graduates, Godfrey Sevake, said he was thankful to the two companies.
“I can say with confidence that I can operate numerous surface machines. We received training from experts and we are now the best in machine operating.”
