Best pupils honoured as Mafadi bids farewell to matriculants

The director of Mafadi Academy, BM Mpuru, thanked all the parents who honoured the event. He pleaded for support and commitment from them.

BURGERSFORT – It has been yet another great year for Mafadi Independent Academy, whose learners have excelled on various fronts, not least academics.

Mafadi ended its year on a high note, with the school’s prizegiving ceremony and a farewell for the matric pupils on Saturday October 23.

The school management team, proud parents and former learners
attended the event.

The pupils entertained the attendees with extramural activities such as dance, poetry and modelling.

Former pupil, Dr Daphney Modipi, provided encouragement for the grade 12s. She urged them to study hard
and to further their studies at universities.

Beyonce Maile is the top learner in
grade 12.

“It’s possible to succeed. It doesn’t matter where you come from, as long you work hard, you will achieve your dreams. When you get to tertiary institutions, avoid peer pressure and only focus on your studies. If you fail
your modules, regroup, work hard and you will pass. There will be challenges, but if you are dedicated, you will excel against all odds.”

Keynote speaker PH Mashabela shared tips on studying for the final exams. “Success is not about competing with your peers. Success is what you have done, compared to what you were created to do.”

He encouraged the pupils to work hard and pass with flying colours.

“I want to see a 100% pass rate at this school. We want more engineers, doctors, architects and professionals. Your have the best teachers and the school has resources.”

Rethabile Nkadimeng, Keabetswe Tjia and Gomolemo Molapo are top pupils
in grade 11.

He added, “Your poor family background should not deter you from achieving your goals. There are
big opportunities in our area. If you pass with flying colours, scholarships and bursaries are available for the best
students.”

The event was concluded with the best pupils from grade R to 12 receiving trophies, certificates and
medals. The sports stars were honoured, too. The school’s 2022 prefects were unveiled at the event.
