The inquest into this matter had previously been heard in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court.

According to Harry Mazibuko, one of the families’ representatives, the tragedy left the families of the three seeking answers regarding their loved ones. They are hoping that the inquest can bring some light as to what had transpired.

On Wednesday the magistrate, attorneys and families visited the mine.

“The visit was an initiative by the magistrate so that she can see how the area looks and get a better understanding of the case. As the family we still want to know more. We still believe that the three are still alive as we have not seen their remains. We want them to be found and removed from that container. The proceedings are aimed at determining what happened and who is responsible.”
