Trial for the 2018 murder of John Bosman postponed
The trial is now set to start on January 22 next year.
The trial for the man accused of murdering John Bosman in 2018 was postponed again earlier this week and is now set to start on January 22.
The accused, Zanempi Goodwin Shongwe (31), appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Monday November 22. The Mpumalanga NPA’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, said that the murder trial will begin in January.

Bosman’s brother-in-law, Bradley Steyn, said the trial had already been postponed multiple times and that the family was “incredibly disappointed and completely disgusted” that the man alleged to have killed Bosman is not behind bars yet.
Bosman was 61 at the time of his murder.

He was watching television in his lounge at his home of 28 years at The Rest when three men walked in. The incident took place at around 22:00.

Bosman’s wife, Leigh, had been getting ready for bed when the intruders entered and Bosman shouted for her to run to the bedroom and lock the door behind her.
It is alleged that the intruders pulled out a knife and a gun and a scuffle ensued before two shots went off, one of which hit Bosman in the chest.

Bosman died on the scene. Steyn said the family was also livid and confused as to why no further arrests had been made as there were three suspects that were involved in the murder.
“The gloves are coming off now. We will fight this until justice has prevailed,” he said.
