BURGERSFORT – The local SAPS has recently welcomed its new station commander, Brig Mmatshaba Augustine Mboyi, who aims to work closely with the whole community in the fight against crime.

Mboyi has been in the police sevices for 30 years. Being passionate about her work and having a strong personality are some of the traits that make her a good leader, as she has been in the command position since 2012 in various policing environments.

She previously worked in the Vispol environment at the Kagiso and Vereeniging police stations in Gauteng. She has also been the station commander of Barrage and Boipatong police stations in Gauteng.

She was later appointed as the station commander of Sharpeville Police Station in Gauteng. That is the station she headed until she assumed her new duties in Burgersfort.

people.

The police need to work closely with their communities to reach tangible results, she said.
Mboyi is on the move of interact with all the role players in the fight against crime, the business and farming communities, the tribal authorities, the community policing forums, the community safety forums, the municipality and several community structures.

She emphasised that showing compassion and having a teamworking spirit as a commander, will ensure that you receive positive feedback from the people you are leading.

Mboyi has already put in place various programmes for the police members and personnel as well as the labour unions, which will address aspects of crime from a different approach. This will ensure cleanliness in and around the police station for a user-friendly environment for the community members and should improve the image of the SAPS.

The other focus will be on reviving all the community-based crime prevention structures, such as the community policing forums, the sector forums, the streets committees, businesses against crime and the neighbourhood to enhance efficient and effective policing around the clock.
