Rory Garton and Janneman Combrink go head-to-head to decide Lowveld Open champion

The Mooinooi golfer won a two-hole play-off.

Rory Garton of Mooinooi Golf Club and Janneman Combrink of Malelane Golf Club were tied on 144 strokes (+2) after 36 holes at the Lowveld Open and Lowveld Mid-Amateur Open at Mbombela Golf Club on Sunday.

They went into a play-off on holes 10 and 18, which Garton won.

The Open was open to all golfers while the Mid-Amateur was limited to players over the age of 30.

Both Garton and Combrink carded rounds of 69 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday.

André van Zyl of Shishen Golf Club and Derek Scullard of Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club tied for third in the Lowveld Open on 146m strokes (+4).

Silver Lakes Country Club’s Menno Malherbe claimed third place in the Mid-Amateur with a score of 145 (+3).
