A golden evening at gala dinner for Lydenburg ladies

Gold and cream was the dress code for a glamour event to honour women.

The ladies who attended the Women in Valour Gala Dinner, can attest to it that the golden theme set the tone for an evening that will hopefully become an annual event.

The concept was the brainchild of a Mashishing businesswoman and entrepreneur, Veliswa Ndlovu.
The gala dinner was held on Saturday August 27 at the Lydenburg Civic Centre.
Ndlovu, the event founder, partnered with Refilwe Mnisi.

“Women go through a lot that requires the revival of the body, spirit, and soul. There are also wrong things that we do as women that necessitate correction, healing and rebuilding, and this is the essence of our event,” said Ndlovu.

The keynote speaker of the dinner was Bakhe Dlamini. He is a well-known relationship consultant, marriage therapist and author of four books.
He emphasised the fact that ladies must know themselves first before they know their partners. He urged the ladies to love themselves.
“A partnership should begin with ‘me’ before partner love. Who are you? You need to meet yourself first. You sacrifice a lot for other people, but you should put yourself first,” said Dlamini.

The event was created as a platform for women to discuss critical issues that affect them.
The other speakers were Make Pule and the programme director, Lungile Mango, both from Ligwalagwala FM. Pule is a media personality, motivational speaker and founder of The Seed of Hope, a non-governmental organisation that helps young girls who are victims of gender-based violence and other forms of abuse. Local motivational speaker Beauty Mathebula and Pr Rose-Mary Themba said women should not be one another’s enemies.

The main message was: “You must be your sister’s keeper, not your sister’s killer.”
“We are looking forward to planning something similar for men. We want them to gain strength from a similar event,” said Ndlovu.
Ndlovu and Mnisi made special mention of Glencore, Dwarsrivier Mine and ID Graphic Designs for their sponsorship.
