KNP loadshedding
Loadshedding schedules will be available at the Park's reception areas.

The Kruger National Park (KNP) has reminded visitors that rest camps are also subject to national load-shedding schedules.
A statement issued by the KNP said, “Although we try our best to provide electricity around the clock to electrified camps and restaurants through back-up generators, the possibility does exist that these generators could experience breakdowns at any given time, particularly during periods of high ambient temperatures when user demand is high.”

The KNP’s technical services team will be on standby during the festive season to attend to such matters.
Where possible, all reception desks will display daily load-shedding schedules, for which visitors may enquire at check-in.

Visitors are encouraged to take the necessary measures to ensure their stay is safe and comfortable, and not negatively impacted by load-shedding. This includes switching off non-essential lighting and appliances when not in use, as well as the following pointers:
• Ensuring that torches and headlights are charged, or that you have sufficient spare batteries.
• Bring a warm water thermos flask and fill with hot water before load-shedding is scheduled.
• Charge laptops and cellphones when you can.
• Campers should ensure that battery packs for fridges/freezers are charged.
• Consider bringing a gas braai/gas bottle and cooker.
• Remember to unplug your devices as load-shedding and subsequent power surges can damage electronic devices.
• Stay cool this summer. Consider purchasing a small rechargeable fan.
• Keep doors and windows closed during the day and curtains drawn to keep your living unit cool.
• Use electricity sparingly and switch air conditioners off when you are not in the room.
• Set air conditions to between 21°C and 23°C to reduce the amount of power they draw.
