LYDENBURG – This video demonstrates just how easy it is to get access to illegal electricity in Mashishing. Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM) has been fighting these connections on a regular basis.
In January this year, Eskom threatened to disconnect TCLM on account of its R300 million arrears account. Since then the municipality has on numerous occasions tried to do away with unlawful connections.
It would now seem that it is easier than ever to gain access to illegal electricity and not paying a cent, further plunging TCLM into more Eskom debt.
