Magoshi engaged on service delivery matters
Traditional leaders met with Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality and Sekhukhune District Municipality over service delivery issues on February 12.
The 2024/2025 joint Draft Annual Reports presentation of Elias Motsoaledi Local and Sekhukhune District municipalities drew the attention of traditional leaders to key issues of service delivery improvements, infrastructure development, water and sanitation provision, road maintenance, and enhanced community development initiatives.
The municipalities started the engagements with local traditional leaders during a gathering held at the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality’s council chamber on February 12.
The traditional leaders stressed the significance of communication, improved response times to community concerns, and the collaboration between municipalities and traditional authorities.
Sekhukhune District Municipality’s presentation by the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Infrastructure, Water and Sanitation, Kukie Sefela-Makgolane, highlighted the district’s performance, development programmes, infrastructure projects, and ongoing interventions aimed at improving service delivery across the region.
The Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) MMC for Budget and Treasury, Ndumiso Ndlovu, outlined key service delivery achievements, financial performance, governance matters, and challenges experienced during the financial year under review.
Simon Makua, EMLM spokesperson, indicated that the municipalities welcomed the traditional leaders’ inputs and reaffirmed the commitment to transparency, accountability, and co-operative governance.

Makua said the recommendations of the gathering will be considered as part of the process to finalise the 2024/2025 annual reports.
“The municipalities remain committed to working collaboratively with traditional leaders to ensure improved service delivery and sustainable development for all communities,” Makua stated.
The draft annual reports of the municipalities are in adherence to sections 121 and 127 of the Municipal Finance Management Act of the Municipal Systems Act.
They provide a record of activities, performance against the budget, and promote public accountability.
Several joint 2024/2025 Draft Annual Report public participation programmes have been planned across the district for February and are expected to end on March 6, targeting the general public, special groups, rate payers, and municipal staff.
