Sekhukhune municipalities shine at SALGA awards

All the local municipalities were recognised for spending 100% of the Municipal Infrastructure Grants and additional grants in the 2024/2025 financial period.

The four local municipalities of Sekhukhune District, Ephraim Mogale, Elias Motsoaledi, Makhuduthamaga, and Fetakgomo Tubatse, walked away with several awards during the SALGA ‘Big Moss’ Maluleke Municipal Awards held at the Ranch Resort in Polokwane last Thursday.

Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality bagged seven awards, followed by Elias Motsoaledi with six, Fetakgomo Tubatse with five, and Ephraim Mogale with four.

Makhuduthamaga also achieved an accolade for not incurring unauthorised expenditure, in-house preparation of Annual Financial Statements, in-house review of Annual Financial Statements, internal compilation of fixed assets register, and sustenance of an unqualified audit opinion.

Elias Motsoaledi was further recognised for its successful in-house preparation of the Annual Financial Statements in the year under review, as well as an in-house review of the Annual Financial Statements.

It also attained awards for sustaining an unqualified audit opinion, not incurring unauthorised expenditure in the audit cycle and achieving an unqualified audit opinion.

Ephraim Mogale was further appreciated for not incurring unauthorised expenditure in the 2024/2025 audit cycle.

The municipality also managed to sustain an unqualified audit opinion. Fetakgomo Tubatse has additionally been successful in its in-house preparation of Annual Financial Statements, in-house review of the statements, and sustenance of an unqualified audit opinion.
