Time to get your finances in order… yes, I said that.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R that debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a few weekends ago will reportedly be limited to ensure exclusively.

Autocar reports that the German folks recently hinted production could be limited to 2 000 units.  So far, nothing has been declared official but the company said it believes the GT Rs will spend most of their time on the track despite being road-legal.

Deemed as a road-going version of the AMG GT3 race car, the AMG GT R gains an aggressive front face with an AMG Panamericana grille which recalls the one used on the Mercedes 300 SL that won the Panamericana road race in 1952.

The car has also been equipped with a front splitter, carbon fiber front fenders, and active aerodynamic components. Buyers will furthermore find a carbon fibre roof, a sporty rear diffuser, and a center-mounted exhaust.

The V8 engine is mated to a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift dual-clutch transmission which gives the car an acceleration from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds before hitting a speed limiter at 318km/h.

We hear that it will go on sale globally shortly after, though pricing information and availability haven’t been announced yet.
