Price: Toyota Hilux specification sheet updated

Changes said to have been the result of customer and market feedback.

Toyota, after repositioning the Raider derivative of the updated Hilux in February, have made more changes to the local line-up involving mostly spec.

Said to have been the result of customer and market feedback, the changes include the deletion of the embedded satellite navigation system where fitted due to the standard inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and availability of a new colour; Platinum White Pearl.

Rear facia has not changed.

Also returning to the colour palette is the limited run Sand Beige that will only be offered until the end of next month.

In terms of the specification, the unbadged base model, step-up S and SR remain unchanged with updates to the Raider consisting of a height adjustable driver’s seat and full-size alloy spare wheel, as well as a revised instrument cluster.

New for the double cab is a 60/40 split rear seat, rear armrest with cupholders and seat pockets with mounting hooks on all 2.4 GD-6 models. Dual-zone climate control replaces the previous ‘standard’ air-conditioning system on all 2.8 GD-6 variants.

Positioned above the Raider but below the Legend RS equipped with the automatic roller shutter hence the two-letter suffix, the Legend grade receives the majority of the updates, which on the Xtra Cab includes an electric driver’s seat and full leather interior.

Hilux Raider has also benefitted from a number of updates.

In addition, the Legend double cab now comes as standard with dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and Toyota’s Safety Sense system made-up of Pre-Crash Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. Previously exclusive to the RS, the nine-speaker JBL sound system now debuts on the Legend, but only on four-wheel-drive models.

Motivation is unchanged with petrol power coming courtesy of two four-cylinder mills; the 102kW/183Nm 2.0-litre and the 122kW/245Nm 2.7, plus the 4.0-litre V6 that makes 175kW/376Nm. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard on the former pair with the V6 featuring a six-speed automatic as the sole option.

All models now come as standard with a spare alloy wheel.

On the diesel front, the low-output five-speed manual only 2.4 GD unit delivers 110kW/343Nm, while the inclusion of a sixth ratio, both manual and automatic, ups the latter figure to 400 Nm with the former remaining as is.

Upgraded last year, the 2.8 GD-6 offers-up 150 kW of power with torque rated at 420 Nm for six-speed manual models and 500 Nm for versions equipped with the six-speed automatic.
