Sivutsa bids farewell to supporters
With Sivutsa Stars relocating, this will leave the province with only one team campaigning in the NFD, the Emalahleni-based Witbank Spurs.
After yet another intriguing season in the National First Division (NFD), the home team, Sivutsa Stars took a final bow in front of their fans this past Sunday at the KaBokweni Stadium where they played their last home game before they relocate to Durban under new management.
It was indeed a sad farewell and a hard pill to swallow for the home fans who have been supporting Stars for a long time and had hoped to see the day it received promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
Many fans complained they would be left without a local team to support while others referred to themselves as “football prostitutes” because they would have to support other local teams.
However, Stars’ boss, Derrick Khoza said all is not lost because he is planning to make a comeback in the football fraternity in the near future.
“I am not leaving the football fraternity. I am still involved and I will make a comeback with another team soon,” said Khoza.
Sivutsa Stars will begin the new NFD season in Durban where they have found a new home under business magnets, Sbu and Shawn Mpisane.
“I didn’t sleep and wake up the following day with the decision to sell. To tell you the truth, I didn’t want to but I had no choice. I hope our supporters, friends and family will understand and accept this decision.
“But I promise that we will bounce back. I am working on buying another team and build it up to qualify for the PSL,” said Khoza.
