The latest on Covid-19: Vouchers for vaccinations, fourth-wave predictions, and second-dose concerns

This week’s headlines included Vooma Vaccination vouchers for people over 60, a drive to increase vaccinations before the festive season, and a reminder to return for your second dose.

As of October 29, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases identified in SA was 2 921 589, with 475 new cases reported. This represented a 1.7% positivity rate. A further 47 deaths brought the total number of deaths to 89 151. The total number of recoveries was 2 813 781 and 22 311 056 vaccines had been administered.

 

Shopping voucher reward for over-60s who vaccinate

An initiative to encourage the over-60 age group to get vaccinated with see them receive shopping vouchers as an incentive. The aim is to encourage unvaccinated older people to come forward before the fourth wave hits – probably early in the new year.
