Family home goes up in flames
When the house caught fire, there were three women inside.
The scene of the fire in Birchleigh on Wednesday afternoon.
The home of the Wood family on Cuyler Street in Birchleigh in Ekurhuleni caught fire around 12.30pm on Wednesday afternoon, Kempton Express reports.
Three women were inside the house at the time when the neighbourhood watch was called for help.
People on the scene applauded SSS Security, which owns a vehicle with fire equipment, for their swift response.

They brought their own pipes to connect to the nearest working hydrant.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
