Cash-in-transit guard robbed outside Steers in Durban

The guard was emptying a drop safe from the restaurant and walked outside when he was confronted by an armed man, police said.


A cash-in-transit  guard was robbed of an unknown amount of money by armed men outside Steers on Umgeni Road in Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday.

According to Sydenham police spokesperson Captain Myen Lazarus, the armed robbery took place outside the Steers parking lot, Northglen News reported.

“The guard was emptying a drop safe from the restaurant and walked outside when he was confronted by an armed man.

“His accomplices were reportedly armed with AK47s, but that is unconfirmed at this stage. They stole an unknown amount of money, and the suspects fled the scene in a cream Mercedes C-Class. No one was injured in the incident,” he said.

A case of armed robbery has been opened.
