Driver critical after truck crashes into electrical poles

The truck hit an electric poles, which affected some cables.


A man is in a critical condition after after the truck he was driving crashed into electrical poles on Friday morning.

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said the accident happened on the R21 and Olifantsfontein off-ramp at about 7am, Rekord Centurion reported.

“A truck collided with electric poles, which affected some cables,” said Mahamba.

Mahamba said emergency services took the driver to hospital in a serious, but stable condition.

“At this stage it is not clear what happened, as we are yet to interview or a get formal statement from the driver.”

“The TMPD had to close the road to divert the traffic.”

Mahamba said the road was still closed.

“It might take another hour or so to be opened.”

He urged residents who might have witnessed the accident to contact the TMPD on 012-358-7095/6 or their nearest police station.
