‘Ever heard what an AK47 sound like?’, man threatens Van Damme

The unshaken DA MP says she has taken screenshots of the man's threats and suspects he'll end up in the same prison as the former president.

Democratic Alliance MP Phumzile van Damme received threats from two men on social media after sharing an article about her party’s plan to take action against former president Jacob Zuma’s album funding.

The DA vowed to block reported plans by the eThekwini municipality’s parks, recreation, and culture department to make a record of Zuma singing liberation struggle songs.

DA councillor Nicole Graham said: “This record deal is blatant patronage where the people’s money will be used to finance the former president’s lifestyle.”

Graham said she would write to the city manager and ask him to “put a stop to this unethical project”.

“The DA will fight this matter tooth and nail in the interests of all who prioritise service delivery over politics.”

But Twitter user @nattienaiza responded to Van Damme and told her to leave the former president alone.

“No. Not until he is behind bars,” responded Van Damme.

Another user, @SivuyileNomnganga, also voiced his dissatisfaction with Van Damme and told her to “chill”, threatening to “come after” her “personally”.

“Leave the former president alone. Didn’t you ask for the inquiry? So allow the inquiry to take place,” said @SivuyileNomnganga.

But Van Damme did not take the threat lightly, saying she took screenshots of the tweets for investigation.

“Come for me personally? Is that a threat? Are you stupid enough to threaten me on a public platform?

“I’ve taken a screenshot of your tweet. I suspect we’ll see each other soon and you’ll be in the dock, likely in the same prison with that very Zuma of yours. Don’t bother deleting your account. If one hair on my head is harmed, uzow’khomba umuzi onotshwala. Mncwi. Try me,” she said.

Another user also jumped in and told Van Damme to stop with her “nonsense”.

“I know where you stay and work trust me u don’t want a visit from me I don’t play fair,” said @Breezyeazy, who further asked Van Damme if she knew “what an AK47 sound [sic] like”.

“Ever heard how an AK47 sound [sic] like? Don’t push me to make that phone call,” he said.
