Five women were killed instantly when a truck drove over their vehicle on the R512 in Broederstroom near Hartbeespoort Dam.
“The circumstances of the accident is being investigated, but it seems the truck was in their lane and drove over the Chery Tiggo vehicle they were driving in. They were presumably dead on impact,” said Romano van der Spuy, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
The accident happened shortly after 3pm on Thursday near the Sangiro chicken farm on the R512, and traffic was affected for hours, Kormorant reported.
The five women from a cleaning company in Centurion were on their way home after work in Pecanwood.
Police are investigating the circumstances around the accident, as well as a case of culpable homicide, and reckless and negligent driving.
