WATCH: Taxi crashes into pedestrian and several parked cars

At least 18 people, including two infants, were injured in the collision.

Shocking footage of a taxi accident on North Coast Road, Durban, has emerged.

The video shows the taxi crossing the centre median before smashing into a man waiting on the other side of the road on Sunday, Northglen News reported.

The taxi also smashes into two parked cars.

At least 18 people, including two infants, were injured in the collision.

According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the taxi, after colliding with the vehicle, crashed into a building.

“A man believed to be about 80 years old suffered serious injuries and was trapped in the wreckage.

“Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the man while Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services worked fervently to free the man using specialised hydraulic equipment, including the jaws of life.

“Once free, the man was placed on to a mechanical ventilator to assist him in breathing and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital,” Van Reenen said.
