‘Not declaring Phala Phala cash equal to stealing from people’ – Malema slams ‘spy’ Ramaphosa

'The EFF has declared a war on Ramaphosa,' Malema told Ditsobotla residents on Sunday.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has taken a swipe at President Cyril Ramaphosa, labelling the head of state as a spy.

Campaigning in Ditsobotla, North West on Sunday, Malema used some parts of his speech to take a dig at Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala saga.

“While water is coming through your shack, your president is sleeping on a bed with dollars in cash.

“When he wakes up he sits on his couch that has dollars. If you don’t declare the money it’s equal as stealing from the people,” the EFF leader told the crowd.

“We are going to fight until Ramaphosa resigns. He will never know peace as long as he is the president of South Africa. Why aren’t you asking yourselves why is he being paid in dollars? What if Ramaphosa is a spy?

“The EFF has declared a war on Ramaphosa and I can tell you now that Ramaphosa will never finish his term of office because he is the enemy of the people.”

With residents in the area gearing up for by-elections, Malema warned the crowd not to vote for the ANC.

He likened their potential vote to the ANC to a drug addiction.

“On the 14th, you will leave to go and vote and before you leave, you will use the toilet that does not flush because it does not have water.

“You will leave and go vote for the ANC. Even if they say the ANC is drugs and you are addicted, what type of madness is this?” he said.

“You did not sleep the whole night, and you were busy flushing water outside your house, and you go and vote for the same ANC. And then you say things must change.

“How can they change when you have not changed your own vote? On the 14th, we are going to make history and remove the ANC. We do not hate them. They are the ones who hate us.”

Parliament vote

Ramaphosa has come under fire in the last two weeks after the Section 89 panel found that the president had a case to answer regarding the burglary at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.

The president may have violated the Constitution and anti-corruption laws, according to the panel.

Parliament this coming Tuesday will debate and vote on the Phala Phala report, with all 400 MPs expected to be at the sitting.

Some ANC MPs are expected to defy the ruling party’s orders.

If the National Assembly adopts the report, a Section 89 Committee will then be established and Ramaphosa will be subjected to impeachment proceedings.

Malema previously indicated that another route would be to bring a motion of no confidence in Ramaphosa if the impeachment vote fails.
