Man fatally shot in the north of Joburg

Five shots were fired at the victim, and four hit him.


A man has been shot and killed in Sandton on the corner of Grayston Drive and Katherine Street, Sandton Chronicle reports.

One of the first responders to the scene, who wished to remain anonymous, was a few cars behind the victim’s vehicle. He said a silver Audi pulled up next to the victim.

“About five shots were fired, four of which hit the victim. The incident happened at around 6.30pm.”

Police have confirmed the incident took place. Captain Kay Makhubele, the provincial spokesperson, said: “The victim was shot in the upper body. The victim was driving a Mercedes-Benz, and he lost control of his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.”

He said a case of murder is being investigated. No motive has been established.
