‘New Scorpions’ will lock Zuma up if Ramaphosa, Maimane, Malema have their way – BLF

The EFF, DA and ANC have similar manifestos and it's not because of 'plagiarism', the party's spokesperson says.

In a series of tweets, Black First Land First spokesperson Lindsay Maasdorp has suggested that the EFF, DA and ANC have similar manifestos, and that this isn’t as a result of “plagiarism” but rather because the “script-writer” for all three manifestos is “in Stellenbosch”.

The “plagiarism” reference is likely based on EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu standing up, during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s state of the nation address (Sona) last Thursday, and shouting out that the he was “concerned” about plagiarism but would deal with his concerns at a later stage.

EFF leader Julius Malema told eNCA soon afterwards that Ramaphosa’s Sona “abandoned the ANC manifesto, and plagiarised the EFF manifesto”. He claimed Ramaphosa stole his ideas on early childhood development, human settlements, and others.

According to BLF, who sent a number of tweets on the issue on Saturday morning, this “plagiarism” is as a result of those in Stellenbosch – the place often mentioned by the party (and ironically, by the EFF too) as the home of white monopoly capital (WMC) – calling the shots when it comes to all three of South Africa’s major parties.

In one tweet, he goes so far as to say that if Ramaphosa, Malema and Maimane had “absolute power” they would get the “new Scorpions – a crime and corruption-busting directorate the president proposed at Sona to replace the one disbanded early in 2009 – to throw those representing radical economic transformation (RET) in jail, starting with former President Jacob Zuma.

In another tweet, Maasdorp says those concerned with RET in the ANC must know that a vote for Ramaphosa is a vote for WMC.

ANC’s RET contingent must vote against their own party or know that by voting for the current president “they have voted to destroy RET, and sadly they have voted to imprison the father of RET [Jacob Zuma].  When it happens, they must not cry, they would have failed to defend RET and Msholozi,” Maasdorp tweeted.

Who should those concerned with RET be voting for, according to BLF? The party itself, of course.

The coming 2019 elections in May will be the first year the BLF contests elections. Due to numerous statements from party leader Andile Mngxitama as well as Maasdorp himself which have been considered hate speech, various organisations and parties have attempted to stop the party from contesting, so far without success.
