Winterton detectives have opened an inquest.

It is believed that Shweni, who was shooting an action scene for a movie at the time, lost his footing at the top of the Sterkspruit Waterfall, which is at Monks Cowl in the Drakensberg.

The waterfall was at full flow due to recent rains.

The actor fell over 40 metres to the bottom of the waterfall, which has rocks and a small pool of water.
