Mom looking for eyewitnesses in Roodepoort hit-and-run

Two children on their way to school were injured this morning when a driver hit them.


Sonja van Rensburg Pitzar is appealing to anyone who has witnessed the hit-and-run accident her son and daughter were involved in this morning, May 9, to come forward.

Her 16-year-old son and his two sisters were walking to Hoërskool Bastion at about 7am when the incident took place, Roodepoort Record reports.

When they got to the stop street opposite Usave, the driver of a vehicle indicated that they could continue crossing the road, but then a woman driving a red VW Polo came speeding around the corner from the direction of the school and hit the boy.

His ribs and feet were injured, and the vehicle also drove over his sister’s foot. The mirror on the left side of the Polo broke off due to the impact.
