Residents say some roads have more than 10 potholes in a single stretch, and claim the city's repair efforts have been inadequate.

Both national and local governments in South Africa are notorious for not providing basic services.

This has led to community members in Tshwane fixing more than 100 potholes.

Residents claimed some roads have more than 10 potholes in one stretch alone. They also say the repairs that the city has done are inadequate.

Last Wednesday, Betereinders cofounder pastor Johan Erasmus and his team took to the streets with the NG Oosterlig en Dialogue community as part of their Gatvol pothole project to fix more than 100 potholes in the east of Pretoria.

“People see that the government and municipalities are neglecting their responsibility. We need to do it ourselves,” said Betereinders co-founder, pastor Johan Erasmus.

However, there are other problems in South Africa that the average resident cannot fix themselves.
