Trump claims that white farmers are facing a “genocide” in South Africa.
The first group of Afrikaners from South Africa arrived in Washington, United States (US), on Tuesday as refugees.
The Afrikaners were met by US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
The South Africans arrived after the Trump administration stopped allowing refugees from other countries to enter the US.
Landau said exceptions could be made to the US refugee programme when the US benefits from the refugees and they “could be assimilated easily into our country.”
