A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with his mother’s murder in Sunnyside, Pretoria.
Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the man handed himself over to police just before midnight on Wednesday, Rekord East reported.
“The suspect informed the police he had been ordered by an evil spirit to kill his mother, 57,” said Mavimbela.
He said when police arrived at the man’s flat, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood.
Mavimbela said the victim had multiple stab wounds.
He said the murder weapon, a knife, was recovered at the scene.
Mavimbela said the man was in police custody, and was expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court soon.
