Lots of rainfall on the cards for Gauteng

It has already started pouring down in some parts of Gauteng, and despite there being no alert or warning issued as yet, residents are urged to remain on high alert.
Speaking to The Citizen on Thursday morning, forecaster Puseletso Mofokeng said there was a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers forecast for the province.
“This rain can come down at any time of the day, and we are closely monitoring all the provinces, and we will advise accordingly should the situation change as the day progresses.
“It does not mean that if there is no alert or warning issued, there won’t be heavy downpours which could also result in flooding, but we will monitor all the areas,” Mofokeng said.
By 9am, the rain had already started bucketing down in parts of Pretoria, including in and around Johannesburg.
However, an alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for areas around Tzaneen and Polokwane, in Limpopo, as well as the eastern parts of Mpumalanga, which includes Skhukhuza and Bushbuckridge.
Elsewhere, there is also a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers for the eastern parts of North West province.
“Similar conditions can be expected over the northern parts of the Free State, which includes areas such as Villiers, Vrede and Sasolburg.
“We are giving it a 30% chance for the eastern parts of the Free State, going into KwaZulu-Natal,” Mofokeng said.
