Bathabile Dlamini reportedly late for her pads drive for Mandela Day

When she arrived, she apparently told journalists to stop 'harassing' her when asked about the Sassa CEO's 'resignation'.

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini was apparently late for her Mandela Day event in Kliptown, Soweto, where she was set to distribute sanitary pads to young women. According to eNCA journalist Karyn Maughan, Dlamini was more than an hour late to the event, and it was unclear as to why.

The minister was expected to address the youth on the meaning of Nelson Mandela Day.

The young women meant to receive the sanitary pads were reportedly asked to dance to entertain the crowd that was waiting for the minister.

When she did arrive, Dlamini reportedly refused to answer questions about whether she had fired Sassa CEO Thokozani Magwaza.

“Stop harassing me,” she apparently told the journalists.

Other officials from the department of social development were at Panyane Nursery School and Aftercare rendering services to the centre, while others visited Noma’s Old Age Home in Garankuwa.

Elsewhere, Police Minister Fikile Mbalula was spending his 67 Minutes for Mandela at Sunnyside Police Station. The minister was helping the community with administrative services they required from the station. Mbalula seems to have arrived on time, as he had started sharing pictures on Twitter on schedule.
