Once freed, paramedics treated both men and provided them with advanced life support interventions.

Unfortunately, one of the men succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene. The man lying outside the vehicle was assessed and sustained moderate injuries. Once treated, both men were transported to Baragwanath Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and collide with a pedestrian and finally come to a stop against the tree. Local authorities will be conducting an investigation into this collision.
