Limpopo police on the hunt for panga-wielding men accused of raping two learners

The men allegedly forced three learners to a secluded area, where two of them were raped.

Police in Vuwani outside Thohoyandou appeal to anyone with information to come forward following an attack on three learners and the rape of two on Tuesday, reports Polokwane Review.

A manhunt for the suspects has since been launched.

A statement by police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe states that the three girls, between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, were walking home from school on Tuesday afternoon when they were threatened by two men armed with pangas. The men then ordered them to a secluded area in the nearby bushes.

The men took turns in raping two of the three girls, before fleeing the scene. The trio managed to walk home and reported the matter to elders who alerted the police.

Ngoepe says two cases of rape were opened, and he urged anyone with more information to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501, the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
