Somizi warns Wodumo against her ‘yes-crowd sisters’
Mampintsha, meanwhile, has accused the gqom star of assaulting him in front of family members.

Media personality Somizi Mhlongo has cautioned Babes Wodumo against what he described as the ‘yes-crowd’ she was surrounded by. Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, trended this week on social media after she broadcast live footage showing her partner Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo allegedly assaulting her.
Mampintsha has admitted to assaulting Woduma but claimed it was in self-defence.
Moments after he was granted R2,000 bail at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for an assault charge, he told journalists that he would lay a counter-charge of assault against Wodumo.
He appeared in court wearing an orthopaedic cast on his leg, and told journalists that she assaulted him while he was already injured.
Many have criticised the relationship on social media and have pleaded with Wodumo to walk away.
Somizi, who has openly pledged that he would cancel any show that he was booked for that involved Mampintsha, said Wodumo had a crisis of being surrounded by a yes-crowd.
He urged Wodumo to get rid of the people who often agreed with her without questioning, advising, or positively criticising her.
Speaking on Metro FM on Tuesday morning, he warned the gqom star against her sisters, who he claimed also fell into the “yes-crowd”.
“I feel she does need advice. Firstly, I would advise her to get rid of that yes-crowd that she’s surrounding herself with. She’s surrounded by yes and [a] dangerous crowd and that, unfortunately, included her sisters.
“Sometimes, her sisters could be the most dangerous people around her, looking like they are protecting her.”
“They never say to her, its enough, go to sleep, you have a show tomorrow. It’s enough … no don’t post this.”
Mhlongo questioned the role her sisters and her friends played in Wodumo’s life and advised her to reflect and see people for who they were.
Meanwhile, Mampintsha has also accused Wodumo of assaulting him in front of family members.
Referring to the video clip, Maphumolo said that when police arrived after the incident, Wodumo was so intoxicated she was unable to stand on her own. He claimed police told her she could not open a case while she was drunk.
Wodumo had woken him up by slapping him on the mouth with a hard flip-flop shoe and he accused her of entrapping him with the video after she provoked him.
Although he had not paid lobola for her, and they were not married, he still expected her to “stay home more”. He admitted he loved her even though his family was tired of mediating in the relationship.
