Special votes applications open in April

Registered voters can apply to cast a special vote from next Thursday.


With election day just over a month away, the IEC is urging registered voters who are pregnant, physically infirm or disabled to apply for special votes for the May General Elections. Applications for special votes will take place between April 4 and 18, the IEC said.

The special vote application will take place between Thursday, April 4 and Monday, April 8, reports Northglen News.

According to the IEC, they will be doing home visits on May 6 for residents who are unable to visit a voting station.

Voters who will be away on May 8, voting day, may visit the voting station where they are registered the day before. The voting station will be open from 9am to 5pm on May 7.

To cast a special vote, you need to apply for a special vote on the prescribed form. You can also apply online from April 4 to 18.

Remember your original green ID book, ID card, or temporary ID document.
