What drives you to eat more?

Do you find that you tend to eat more during social gatherings or when anxious?

Everybody consumes food for the basic need of energy, so that we are able to carry out daily tasks and engage in lifestyle activities. However, many people tend to eat food for more than just satisfying that basic need.

Social gatherings

Often, people tend to overindulge in foods especially when at social gatherings. Perhaps it makes them feel more comfortable or blend in more with others but if you do not watch how much you are eating, you can lose track of your portion size.

Try to discover why you tend you eat/overeat (even when not hungry), and create a plan for those situations.

Don’t let your feelings control your diet

Other people may be prone to eating more when experiencing feelings such as anxiety, stress or depression, or even excitement. If you find that any of these feelings are triggering you to turn to food for comfort, then you need to slow down and perhaps try to deal with those emotions in a much healthier way.

If you are having difficulty in doing so by yourself, chat to your doctor. He or she will be able to refer you to a psychologist who will be able to help you deal with your emotions.

Take control of what you eat today and enjoy a much slimmer you!
